our final stop! we are staying in our own painted lady airbnb - made famous from the theme sequence in "full house"! our destination is san francisco where we will be traveling to the Museum of ice cream... and anything else you wanna do before heading to the airport! for the museum of ice cream, we'll be going the second day of our stay (so that we can have some rest from our stops and long drive) and i booked us a private tour, so it's all ours from 9pm-12am! we won't be in san francisco for very long because we have other places to go (see: letter "i") but i'm more than happy to look around for things to do while we're there if you wanna explore the city a little more than just these two things! winchester mystery house has a "spooky" tale behind it, known for its many many rooms leading to nowhere due to widower sarah winchester continuously building onto this house until her last days. we are gonna learn all about it! beyond the fictional film we watched, we are going to get a front row seat to see exactly what was built and maybe get answers to why. we will be taking the mansion tour + explore more tour, making for a stop of a little over two and a half hours. the santa cruz beach boardwalk had a fun, silly theme song that haunts me to this day because i remember it being on television and it being catchy as heck but it was too far to ever go to. i don't remember santa monica having a fun theme song but that's beside the point. i know we just kind of had our own teeny tiny version of this (without the beach or the extreme rides) but if anything, we can play the boardwalk games and go on a ride and keep driving through. monterey is a pretty beach town with a popular aquarium (which i think might be all that they're mainly known for besides the expensive cost of living). since we both love animals and the jellyfish here look so cool in the pictures, i thought this would be a fun detour. there's something new to do every 30 minutes, and supposedly this is the aquarium that finding dory was based off of. once upon a time when they were closer, taylor and karlie took a trip to big sur for a vogue cover shoot and they both couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was and how i "need to go". taylor suggests it as a wonderful romantic destination, and the pictures look gorgeous. it's on the way through, so i thought we could finally experience it for ourselves! what's there to do? i don't actually know except for look at nature and some cool trees, but being southern california with its pollution... it might be nice to get some fresh air. hearst castle is known for its beauty and size - one of the two big, museum-esque mansions we'll be seeing on this road trip (except this one is much less "spooky"). my mom and david went here once for a date and they took really nice pictures. |
